Satelit khusus pengontrol cuaca untuk mengatur ekosistem dan perubahan cuaca ekstrem mengalami gangguan. Akibatnya sistem yang dibuat untuk melindungi Bumi malah mengakibatkan berbagai bencana alam.
Seorang perancang satelit (Gerard Butler) bersama Max (Jim Sturgess) mencoba memperbaiki satelit itu sebelum bencana Geostorm membinasakan Bumi, namun untuk melakukannya mereka harus menculik Presiden Amerika untuk dapat mematikan sistem satelit.
