Sebuah penyergapan polisi di sebuah Motel di Kota Detroit, pada tahun 1967 berbuah kerusuhan terbesar dalam sejarah Amerika Serikat. Selama lima hari kemudian 43 orang tewas, hampir 1.200 orang terluka dan lebih dari 2.000 bangunan hancur.
Kerusuhan tersebut dipicu oleh rasisme dan diskriminasi yang dirasakan masyarakat Detroit. Polisi, tentara, pemadam kebakaran dan keamanan nasional dari Michigan diturunkan untuk menghentikan kerusuhan.
