Pasca Metropolis hancur karena pertarungan Superman dan General Zod, dunia terbelah menjadi dua. Satu yang mendukung Superman sebagai harapan dan satu lagi yang menyebutnya sebagai sebuah ancaman. Dunia berdebat jenis pahlawan apa yang dibutuhkan oleh masyarakat.
