Mahasiswa Pascasarjana Princeton, Richie (Justin Timberlake) percaya dirinya sudah ditipu dalam sebuah permainan judi poker online. Untuk mendapatkan kembali uangnya, Richie melakukan perjalanan ke Kosta Rika untuk menemui sang pemilik situs judi online, Ivan Block (Ben Affleck).
Alih-alih mendapatkan uangnya kembali dan kembali ke Princetown, Richie malah direkrut oleh Ivan untuk bekerja dengannya. Saat kehidupannya mulai berubah, Richie ditangkap oleh agen FBI (Anthony Mackie). Ada sesuatu yang tidak diketahui oleh Richie terhadap Ivan.
